Lackadaisy

The monkey hopped down from Levi's arms and approached the cat cautiously, chattering in a friendly manner. It reached for the injured paw, stroking it gently before darting away, back to the safety of Levi's arms, chattering excitedly once more.

Flint sank to the ship's deck and sighed. "Must have happened when we crashed into eachother." he said, "Max'll go get a splint for it."

Bastet mewed and rested his head on his paws, licking the hurt one.

"Poor thing," Eboni said with a soft sigh as she stroked his ears.

"Looks like somebody wants to be friends..." Levi smirked, referring to the monkey in his arms. The small creature was still looking at Bastet intensely, cooing now. "This is definitely a strange night..."

Bastet looked up at the monkey and purred, lowering his head as a sign of friendliness.

The monkey sat in front of him and gently stroked his injured paw, continuing to coo.

"Well, I'll be damned," Levi chuckled, removing his hat to run a hand through his hair.

Flint finally caught his breath and stood up. "Well, that's that taken care of. Max'll bring up some bandages for Bastet. I'll be on the bridge." He turned and headed towards his wheelhouse.

Now that all the excitement was over, Levi felt a bit lost as to what to do. He looked down at his belongings flung down on the deck, not even sure where to put them. "So, uh..." he said, looking back and forth between Eboni and Marcel.

Eboni was busy grumbling and glaring at Flint's back. "Grr...that man!"

Marcelo rolled his eyes and helped Levi to his feet. "Come on, then. I'll get you set up near the engine room."

"Thanks," he grinned, picking up his things again. He looked back at Eboni and Bastet. "Sorry about her foot..." he said, hoping to calm her a bit.

The monkey, seeing him getting up, ran back to him and climbed up his pant leg to his shoulder.

"Don't worry, little guy. We'll get you a snack," Levi promised.

"Bastet's a he, and he'll be fine," she said with a soft smile as she looked to Levi.

Max arrived with a first-aid kit. "How was shoreleave?" he asked with a grin as he got out the gauze and a splint.

Flint flopped down in the pilot's chair and heaved a sigh. He hoped that stuff was worth the effort. And he wasn't just thinking about the escape...

"Oh. Okay," he said with a nod as he followed after Marcelo. At least he felt like he was starting off on the right foot.
